Eoin Mclaughlin is a Sunday Times bestselling author. His books have been translated into 28 languages and twice been named ‘Books of the Year’ by The Guardian.
His debut The Hug was awarded a D&AD Pencil and is included on school syllabuses around the world. The follow-up, While We Can’t Hug, was recognised as ‘Timely’ (The Telegraph), ‘Touching’ (The Guardian) and ‘an important historical record of the time’ (The Times). It was nominated for the Carnegie Illustration Medal, shortlisted at the Irish Book Awards and read on the BBC on Christmas Day.
His books have been specially adapted for children with communication difficulties and are being used in a pilot scheme for fathers to read to their children from prison in California.
Before becoming an author, Eoin was a Creative Director at Channel 4 where he worked on the Paralympics and The Great British Bake Off. His films have been shown at the Cannes International Film Festival’s Court Métrage and are held in the permanent collection at the MOMA.
Before the before, Eoin was a removal man, a cleaner, a barman and a professional strawberry picker. He’s delivered furniture. He’s assembled watches. He’s repossessed televisions. He’s worked on a building site, in a bookshop and three cinemas. He’s been employed in call centres, offices and factories. He once tried to be a bin man, but he got sent home because he was wearing the wrong shoes. He knows how it feels.
Originally from New Ross, Co. Wexford. He now lives in Mauritius.

Events:
I live far away from everywhere.
But I can try to make events work, either online or with enough planning.
I love libraries. I love schools. I’ve spoken at the Dublin, Singapore and Cambridge International Literature Festivals.
It’s the best part of my job.
